Well, people make weddings to be such a big big deal especially for ladies. Indeed, it is a girl's once-only-day to be the princess in everyones eyes.
My Solemnization is all that I can want it to be and is special in every single way. If I could turn back time, the one thing I would probably change is to get a chinese speaking emcee to translate whatever that is going on to some family members that could not understand English well.
The adventure started for me the day before. I brought all my aunties and my cousins to a day of pure pamper on their hands and feet. I had made a prior booking to FE Nail Lounge @ Raffles City and they closed the place for our private party.

My 3 little cousins that helped me out during the wedding. It is their first time getting a mani/pedi and I'm just happy that they're happy!

My Aunt Sally (Yee Ku Jie), so sorry for the blurness! It was kinda hard to take a photo with the iphone and then to not shake and be weary of the manicure. Heh heh!
The nail services in this lounge is pretty good. My french manicure is still in tact after so many days and I'm not one to be "gentle" with them. They also did a great job with the service and with keeping refreshments up. We had chocolate pastries, brownies, chips etc. Green Tea was also constantly served. What a great day!
My wedding day itself started out early. We left the house at 7:50am and fetched my cousin Joshua (also my emcee) from his house at Hougang. We then fetched my sister and my brother in law from their place at Punggol. My dad was pretty much the chauffeur in this whole thing because he had to send my mom for her hairstyling at UE Square and then send us to Marriott Hotel.
Jacqueline my hairstylist/make-up-artist arrived on the dot at 9am. She then proceeded with my hair first which took almost an hour!! So much hairspray and products on the hair that I felt I could set something on fire. Anyways it was all worth it because I felt the hairstyle looked much better than her trial (picture somewhere in this blog). I actually SMSed her to say that my trial hairstyle made me look 10yrs older and she was definitely accomodative to a change. The make up itself didn't take too long but all in all, it was almost 10:45am before I was ready to go down and meet the guests.
All my guests started to trickle in at around 11am and it was just great receiving everyone and chatting with them. They had some drinks and then it was 11:30am where everyone needed to be seated for the solemnization to begin.
I am so glad that I got Rev Alvin Chan to solemnize my wedding. He was so great and made us feel as comfortable as we could be. He is also one of the younger more "havoc" pastor in Wesley Methodist Church but my parents know his parents well and so he was our obvious choice. (He even has a ear stud!!).
Anyways one of his requirements to us is that Deli and I both write our own vows and memorize them. My first thought was "wah. jialat man. i surely stage fright." In fact, Deli handled it so much better than I did and English is supposedly my natural spoken language!
Heres our vows for anyone that might want to copy them, but seriously.... write your own. It is sooo much more meaningful. You can mix and match sample vows to form your perfect one.
Deli's Vow:
I, Deli, take you, Jaclyn as my friend and love. I promise to stand by you, to be there when you need me, and to share the happiness and sadness of our life together. I commit myself to you as your loyal and loving husband.
My Vow:
I, Jaclyn, take you, Deli as my friend and love, in laughter and in tears, asking that you be no other than yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that life may find us. I commit myself to you as your loyal and loving wife.
And then i added, "Forever with you dear". Because this 3 words mean so much to us. We even got it engraved in our wedding bands.
My vow is seriously something I am working on. Unconditional Acceptance is something we learnt in Marriage Preparation and I do realize that I'm always trying to change Deli to someone else that he isn't. Therefore when I was reciting my vows, I actually do mean it seriously. I'm also sure that Deli will take care of me and be there when I need him. :)
Throughout the entire solemnization process, Rev Chan tried to make us relax. Deli said that while I was walking in with my dad, he actually kept talking to Deli to keep him calm. So cute!
Anyways, the buffet lunch served by Marriott Hotel was great. I couldn't have asked for better! All the guests commented that the food was good and I'm so happy!! To any future brides that are reading this, do consider Marriott Hotel as an option for you. From the start to the end, their service was impeccable. Ivah Ee my wedding planner is such a bubbly and cheerful lady that you just want to sit down and chit chat with her continuously. Leong my wedding banquet captain was so freaking attentive it was scary! He remembered to pass me my flowers, remembered to keep everything and send to my room, he even served Deli and I honey water at our tables. AAA+++ service. Something that way surpassed my expectations.
Our wedding dinner is at Intercontinental Hotel... hopefully their service is as good as Marriott although judging by the planner ... I doubt it. But anyway, I cant judge until the time comes so lets hope we'll get good service from them since the dinner is at least 10 times more hectic than the ROM lunch.
All in all, what a day! Something we will remember forever.
My professional photos are not done yet, I will post the ones that others have taken of us first.. will post the professional ones when they are returned to us.
