Posted some pics

Hello! finally back in hotel after a tiring but fun day in Taipei. We went to the local theme park Loo Foo Village Them Park, it was fun but the rain sort of ruined for us so end up we had to leave early.

We then went back to Xi Men Ding to shop for more stuffs and we found out a Toilet themed Restaurant somewhere. They served very nice food + dessert and the guys ended up buying some of the "toiletries" stuffs lol.

Well enjoy some of the pics taken.

First day in Taipei!

Today is our first day in Taipei. We landed at  3+pm and by the time we got to the hotel, it was about 430pm. We're staying in Les Suites Taipei Ching Cheng. Really beautiful hotel albeit small but the service was superb. When we got off their bus, they had at least 3 people to greet us and after all the check in, one staff brought us around the hotel. They had a bar with cookies/cakes/hot coffee/ hot tea which was on the house 24hours. They also had large iMacs in the lobby for free internet usage. Best of all? Broadband access in the room is FOC. Deli and I both brought our laptops so we can use both at the same time since they have wired and wireless access in room.

The room is really nice as well with full set of amenities. Even more than the upgraded-deluxe-room we got from Pathuwan Princess (Bangkok). We were served with fresh fruits in the room... great right?

After checking in and spending some time in the hotel with its cool facilities (Japan style toilet bowl ftw), we headed off to Ximending.

Woo this place is like a youngster mecca. Reminds me of Shibuya Japan and is even bigger than Myeongdong Korea in my opinion. They have a lot of street food around and everything looks so damn tempting.

Walked around Ximending but we were all pretty tired after the early flight and so we decided to go back to the hotel early and rest for a full day tomorrow. We're going to the Leo Foo Theme Park and it is gonna be a longgg day!!

So thats the end of my day 1 report. We took quite abit of photos but unfortunately I did not bring the cable for my camera. Will upload them all when we get back!

Oh and Ah chang bought something really disgusting! A stick of deep fried chicken skin. Ugh!! I took a photo of it... deli said it was like eating oil.

GROSS.

UOB/OCBC/Any Bank > DBS/POSB

We are all going on a holiday to Taipei this coming Monday and so we thought of changing money today but it was such a bitch looking for an ATM machine that has cash to dispense.

We went to Funan's POSB branch and both their ATM machines could not dispense cash. Also their branch's last day of operation is on Apr 14... crap.

So we walked over to Peninsula Plaza and the queue had at least 20 people in it (really).

We then drove to selegie since we wanted to go Mustafa to change money and the atm at Parklane had no cash to dispense as well.

WTH? Everyone is withdrawing money for some reason. Last try was the ATM machine at Cheers (beside the prata shop situated opposite fortune center). That didn't work as well and had the dreaded "this atm machine is not able to dispense cash" message.

Grr. What a shitty experience.

I've always wanted to open a savings account with UOB. Theres never a queue at UOB/OCBC and always a snaking line at the POSB machines.

UOB/OCBC FTW

We skinned!

Today Deli and I made an appointment to get our laptops skinned. Me because I am vain and Deli because he doesn't like having fingerprints on his black laptop. I also got a $30 voucher to use when I bought my netbook @ the IT show. So we brought our images down today and collected them after our dinner.

Overall I am very pleased with how it turned out. For gamers, you'll probably know what this avatar is but for the sake of my non gaming friends.. this is actually a Blood Elf. More specifically, it is a Blood Elf Rogue from World of Warcraft (which we're playing now). Ardente is me and Radical Dreamers is my guild. The above depicts a rogue but I'm actually playing a priest. Hmmm I think I'm going to create a blood elf rogue just for the sake of it hehee!

Deli had Diablo III on his, wait for him to post his up! Its pretty cool too.

Answers to baking

I've been asked alot recently to "teach" baking. Are you girls kidding me?! I'm kinda noob to it as well. If you do want to start out, do what everyone does (even the experts), get a good recipe book. Or, you can search for recipes on the internet, Martha Stewart comes to mind. Here are some beginner tips if you really want to start.

Get the tools - you can't bake without proper tools unfortunately. Unlike cooking where you can mix and match pans / pots etc. For baking, you'll need an oven, mixing bowls, spatula, measuring cups, a mixer and.... a fridge! You'll also need the pans, flat trays, muffin trays etc.. depending on what you're making.

Heres what I have:

Kenwood Chef. My mom insists on kenwood, we have tried many brands like Philips etc but those don't do the job quite as well as Kenwood.

Our Baby Belling.

Our fridge. Heehee. We bought a new one recently because ours spoiled after 11 faithful years. RIP old fridge!!

So those are the basic needs lah. Then you need to get everything else. If you're fresh and a newbie to baking, then I'll recommend going to Poon Huat. Their biggest store is @ Bencoolen. There you will find all the baking supplies you'll need.

Be ready to spend a bomb though, baking is not cheap at all!! Of course it is cheaper than buying the end product outside but it is alot of work (especially washing up). What I like most about baking is that you can self-reduce the amount of sugar or replacing butter etc. Alter the recipe to your taste. :)

So there you have it, don't ask me to teach you baking. I still get my mom to seperate the eggs for me since I can never get the whites out of the eggs perfectly without breaking the yolk. Heh heh!
